Incredible location with sweeping views of the sea, the church and the city. Historic building nicely renovated. Our room was very spacious, with a large bathroom and full bath tub. We enjoyed the pool, which is outdoors also with a beautiful view, a short distance from the main building. The bar and restaurant offer excellent and personal service and have a very classic holiday feel. Breakfast offerings were lovely, and it was so pleasant to sit in the bay window with a view enjoying coffee. The proximity to the Santa Lúzia church and the funicular were great for us, but I can imagine most people will want some assistance getting up the mountain as the location is a bit remote from the city. Everyone we interacted with working in the hotel was so helpful and kind and spoke excellent English. Our stay was incredibly comfortable and enjoyable.

The hotel is not exactly inside the city, but it's very close. You don't need a car to get there and it's very close to the "elevator" (the funicular, 3€ round trip). The common areas were nice, warm and had beautiful decoration. The food was amazing during dinner and the staff was well trained and kind (I'm grateful to the chef for the surprise entrée), the breakfast was also very good with a nice variety of foods (although the coffee was not very good). I really wish I had had more time to spend at the bar and the outside areas. Next time maybe! The room was simple but comfortable and, most importantly, clean, with a balcony overseeing the sanctuary and the sea. Overall, I definitely recommend and intend to stay there again.

This hotel is like it´s cut from an Agatha Christie novel. It´s about 100 years old with a grand lobby with high ceilings. Situated on top of a hill overlooking Viana do Castelo where the only things there are the hotel and the famous church. Therefore it´s not within walking distance from the town. You have to take the funicular or a taxi to get to the town. The view from our room (and the hotel) was simply amazing. Pool area was nice, with showers. The breakfast was outstanding. Staff were helpful and nice and specially our friend Deryk who was an amazing help. Viana do Castelo is a charming town with many great seafood restaurants. "Praia de Afife" beach is recomended.

The location was on top of mountain on a very windy road. The property was very nice with a lovely, large pool (not open at the time), good parking, fantastic views, and near some very old Celtic ruins which we visited. There was a funicular that went down to the town which we took to visit the Folk Museum and explore the town; and a lovely church just below the Hotel. A large formal dining room that served a good diners and breakfast, and a living room area that happened to have a flute /piano concert the night we were there. The place has always been a Hotel/Pousada, but was not the historic kind of Pousada. We enjoyed it very much.

AMAZING!!!! Wow - you cannot go wrong with this hotel. The staff are as amazing as the views you have from the hotel/room! We are so thankful to the staff for making our stay so comfortable. We walked the Camino and after a long day of walking, we were tired after walking up the stairs to the grounds. If you are planning to stay while on the Camino, we learned there is a train that takes you up the mountain to the hotel (unless you want to add 800 stairs to your steps) :) Regardless, the extra 800 stair climb was worth it to stay here! We can't wait to go back here (and stay longer next time!) GREAT breakfast and amazing dinner, too!
